About Us

SWITCH, the Solar and Wind Initiatives Towards CHange, is a student-run non-profit organization based in William Lyon Mackenzie Collegiate Institute in North York, Ontario, Canada. We aim to generate renewable energy for our school and, eventually, throughout the Toronto District School Board (TDSB). In doing so, the TDSB will become the first school board in the Canada, to use an alternative source of energy to relieve our immense strain on the conventional power grid. We plan to use this project to enhance the curriculum in the departments of math, science, social science, and business, among others. We have received phenomenal support from distinguished environmentalists including Dr. David Suzuki and Steven Page of the Barenaked Ladies.

SWITCH will lead by example, motivating others to better the environment. Our community goals range from reducing greenhouse gas emissions to providing an alternate and cost-efficient method of energy production. In order to accomplish this goal, SWITCH is fund raising from several sources. This is our planet, we must do all we can to save it. Join us in our fight against global warming!
